Write the scene. The pipeline builds it.
Studio Foreground makes the Foreground Suite: tools for story-driven RPG Maker MZ games. Write scenes in prose with an AI collaborator that knows your game. Deterministic tools build them into native engine content, and visual editors cover what prose can't.
The problem
A single dialogue scene in RPG Maker MZ can mean dozens of trips through menus: message windows, face images, character movement, sound cues, waits, switches. For a story-driven game with hundreds of scenes, that mechanical work takes up the time meant for writing.
The Foreground Suite
- Foreground Script An agent harness for writing, not code. Draft with an AI that knows your game's canon, then compile the scene into standard MZ event commands.
- Foreground Stage A visual editor for menus, HUDs, visual-novel dialogue stages and battle screens, played in-game by a runtime plugin.
- Foreground Light Lighting, shadows, weather and post-processing for maps, set up visually with the cost of each effect measured.
- Foreground Lore Scans your project into a structured record of its story logic and flags plugin conflicts.
How it works
- Write. Develop the scene in prose with an assistant that draws on your project's real canon.
- Interpret. The approved prose becomes a structured description of who says what, how and where.
- Compile. Plain, testable code writes it into your project as standard event commands. No AI is involved in that step.
- Verify. The result is checked against your project and rescanned, and you review it in the game, which runs no AI.
Engineered to be trusted. Thousands of automated tests. Key features are checked inside the running game, not only in a development environment, and visual effects are measured on low-end hardware.
