Foreground Lore
In private developmentKnow your own game. Foreground Lore by Studio Foreground reads an RPG Maker MZ project and turns it into a structured record of its story logic. You can see which events set which switches, what depends on what, and where your plugins collide.

A map of your project's story logic
A large RPG Maker project spreads its story across hundreds of events, switches and variables. Foreground Lore scans the project data and records:
- Every switch, variable and named record: actors, items, skills, equipment, enemies and states, with where each one is used
- The links between them: which events set a switch, which require it, which branch on it, which call a common event, which move the player to another map and which trigger automatically
- Key items: items whose use runs story events
- An automatic story chain: events that run in sequence on their own, traced into one outline
The result is a local database that the other Foreground tools, and your own scripts, can query.
Plugin conflict detection
Plugins in an MZ project can quietly overwrite each other. Foreground Lore builds a registry of every plugin in the project and flags four kinds of collision:
- two plugins overriding the same engine function
- plugin commands with the same name
- text escape codes that clash
- duplicate entries in the plugin list

The canon behind Foreground Script
Foreground Script reads Foreground Lore's scan to know your game's facts: its switches, variables, events and story pages. When it helps you write a new scene, the canon it draws on comes from your actual project, not from a guess. See Foreground Script.
Readable reports
Lore exports its records as self-contained web pages, such as a plugin reference listing every command, parameter and conflict.
Proprietary software. The scanning, the database and the conflict checks work today. AI-written story summaries of characters, places and plot arcs, and an editable story flowchart built from them, are in development. See the roadmap.
